My name is Jeralene Merritt, I am the Executive Director at Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries a nonprofit 501 (c) organization. An organization that have been serving individuals and families in Duplin County for over 10 years. DCOM define a crisis as “an unexpected situation or event that occurs beyond control of the individual or family.”
DCOM have several ministries, Sandwich with a Blessing, free lunch program on the first Saturday of each month. Back Pack Ministry and Feed the Hungry Children Ministry prepares weekends meals for students in five of the Duplin County Schools. There are four Pantries located in Wallace, Rose Hill, Charity-Greenevers Community, and Kenansville. DCOM helps with water, electricity, heating gas, kerosene, personal vehicle gas, evictions, prescriptions, clothing (free from our Blessings in Store, transportation, DORM Program whose mission is to make homes in Duplin County safer and healthier for the elderly and those with physical disabilities, and low income homeowners, Free Money Management Classes for anyone the last Monday of each month, Credit Repair Classes free the first Monday of each month.
The joy of sharing at Christmas is repeated over and over. Donations are needed each year to help families who are experiencing a crisis. DCOM have a Christmas Sharing Ministries for families who would not be able to experience a happy Christmas. Applications are accepted at the Crisis Center beginning the first week of November and ending December 15, 2017.
I am writing to ask if your church, organization or individual would make a contribution to help? Christmas is a time where together, we can let these individuals know they are not forgotten. No amount is too small – everything that is received is greatly appreciated! Your gifts can be money, toys, clothing, gift cards, electronics age range 2 year-old to 14-year-old.
