A hidden gem on Main St. in Wallace is a sweet thrift shop called Blessings in Store (BIS)! Manned (or more aptly ‘womanned’!) completely by volunteers, it is a source of many extremely well priced treasures – clothing, shoes, books, household items, exercise equipment whatever!
Before I became a volunteer, I used to stop in to discover what I didn’t even know existed and now that I’d seen it, I had to have it! The ladies who work there are delightful and the ministires benefitting from the public’s generosity are many. It is truly a win/win to shop there, as you acquire some great stuff and those in need are helped through yyor purchase price. Some of the outreach ministries are: DCOM Crisis Center, Backpack Buddies, DORM (Duplin Outreach Rebuilding Ministry), Credit Report classes, Money Management classes to name a few.
Working there is a source of wonderful fellowship and an opportuinty to “bless’ far and wide. If donated items cannot be sold at the store, they are forwarded to other ministries and the ‘blessing’ continues on …. Sarah’s Refuge (Warsaw), Tim’s Gifts (Clinton), Pentecostal clothing ministry (Wallace). Some clothing has been delivered to the extremely poor living in the Dominifan Republic. At times, the Salvation Army has benefitted from our ‘excess inventory’ at a season’s end.
If ever you might feel inclined to become involved, either through donating your extra ‘stuff’ or donating your time and talent, BIS is always on the lookout for interested volumteers. All that is needed a willing servant’s heart. All training is happily provided and scheduling is very flexible. Store hours are Thursday and Friday 11-5 and Saturday 10-3. We offer restock and clean on Monday evening 6:30-8 and Tuesday mornings 9-12. Donations are accepted during store hours Thursday-Saturday and tax deductible receipts are available.
So, be blessed and we hope to see you @ 127 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
